Information

Description

Gumtree Jobs is the gateway to over 100,000 full-time and part-time vacancies across the UK – from apple picking to yacht building. Posting in Jobs requires you to stay within the law, as well as within the following posting rules.

Make sure your ad doesn’t discriminate based on age, disability, gender, race, religion or belief, or sexual orientation. Equal treatment in access to employment is protected by law.

Plus, jobs must offer the National Minimum Wage or above.

Understanding the basics

-      No duplicates please
Don’t create more than one ad for one vacancy, or create multiple accounts. Though you can post your ad in more than one geographic location if you need to advertise to neighbouring areas.

-       Under 18?
It’s 18 and over here, please.

Putting everything in the right place

Although you’ll find thousands of jobs on Gumtree, we’re not the right place for everything. Check the list below for jobs you can’t advertise here. And remember: if you offer something on this list, you won’t get a refund when we remove your ad.

-      Escort or adult industry work, including glamour or webcam modelling
-      Clinical/medical trials
-      Some work-from-home jobs
-      Pyramid selling schemes.

If you’re posting on behalf of a direct selling enterprise, such as Avon or Herbalife, don’t post as a private individual. You’ll need to contact us and upgrade to a business account

-       Get the category right
Our categories work hard to connect the right ad with the right job hunter. Please don’t try to get more views or avoid paying our fees by posting in the wrong one. You’ll get better results when your ad appears in the right place.

-       Follow the ad template
Keep website links and contact details in the designated place and out of your ad title, description and photos.

Writing a great ad

-       Use plain English and keep it clean. That goes for the images you post too. You’re welcome to add a translation in another language in your item description.
-       Be clear. To attract the best candidates, write a clear and honest description of your vacancy. Don’t be tempted to spam with keywords. The ads that get the best response are the ones that say clearly what the job involves.

Be especially clear what your vacancy involves if your industry has an adult services sector, such as modelling or massage.

Be professional

-      If you’re a recruitment agency, say so.
-      In certain sectors, you must have a landline phone number in your contact details. These include charity and voluntary sector recruiters, and modelling agencies.
