Gumtree Support

Site Alert !

There have been some changes in the Property Category. If you've received an 'unexpected change' email from us, that means we moved the sub-category your advert was in and moved your advert with it. It's still within the Property category though!

Safety Alert !

If you receive a call from someone claiming to be from an insurance company and telling you someone in your household has had an accident in the past three years, be aware that it may be a scam.

We have had reports that they're asking for home addresses, possibly to determine the location of your car. If you do get this kind of call, please call us or contact us through Live Chat and give us as much information as you can.

How do I report something to you?

How do I report something to you?

If you come across something that upsets you or makes you suspicious, click the ‘Report this ad’ button. Or get in touch with one of our agents.
We’ll take a look (usually within a few hours) and decide what to do next. Here's a quick guide that shows you how to report ads.

Someone’s sent me a suspicious response to my ad

If the response makes you suspicious, don’t respond yet. First, look for signs of a scam. Because if something sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

You’ve sent me a safety alert

It’s because we think you might be speaking to someone suspicious.

  • If you haven’t sent any personal info or money yet, we’ll hide your email address. Be very careful about going any further with them.

  • If you’ve been chatting or texting but haven’t sent money, be careful if the person gets in touch again. Especially by text.

  • If you’ve sent someone your CV, be careful what else you share with them. Also, reset the password for your email account and keep an eye on your bank account. Just in case.

  • If you’ve sent them personal info including your bank details, get in touch with us right now.

Someone’s scammed me

Get in touch with us straightaway.

We’ll get on the case immediately and give you advice on what to do next. We’ll also work hard behind the scenes to protect our other customers.

We work very closely with the police and their fraud teams and often share information with them. If this happens, we’ll guide you through what happens next.

Disputes with Gumtree

We recommend that all complaints and disputes should be raised with our Customer Support team. They will make every effort to resolve your issue with us. The European Union has launched the European Online Dispute Resolution platform which can be found here, however we do not use this service to settle disputes.
